Honeymoon in Paris

I’m a married man. A very happily married man. We got married in July and honeymooned in Paris, staying on a houseboat moored on the Seine.

Now Paris is a wonderful city, with much to see and do. However if you’re thinking of spending your honeymoon in France’s capital can I suggest two things:

  • Firstly, don’t go in the middle of a heatwave.
  • Secondly, don’t go the day after your wedding, when you’ve had a small amount of sleep, and are nursing a big hangover.

We were wiped out for the first three days. All our planned itinerary went out the (porthole-shaped) window and we struggled to get anywhere without ending up exhausted.

Eventually we got our energies back and explored several city regions. Including my personal favourite, Montemartre, and staying on the Seine provided us with some wonderful views.
